About our trainers
Sammat Education was founded by Matt in 2008. Prior to that he was a Head Teacher of Computing Studies at Quakers Hill High School and also a Deputy Principal. Since 2009 Matt has conducted Professional Learning for schools throughout Australia as well as Student STEAM incursions throughout NSW primary schools, including support units and high schools. He has been engaged by schools and regional learning communities to develop STEAM programs and resources integrating the foundations of learning into a future focused curriculum.
Grant has worked across both private and public school systems over the past 18 years. In his time he has had leadership roles in the area of ICT where he was at the forefront of ICT integration into the classroom. He is currently working as an ICT and Innovations Leader and lectures in the Master of Teaching degree at Western Sydney university. Grant is a regular on the conference circuit as well, presenting all over Australia at conferences including EduTech, Leading a Digital School, National Education Summit and FlipCon Australia. He is in his final stages of his Master of Education (STEM) and in September hopes to be the first in Australia to graduate with this degree.
Matt will introduce you to the Sphero Edu portal – teaching you how to create lessons and activities and integrate Sphero with Google Classroom. He will look at how to find creative projects and programs for use in the classroom as well as take you through an authentic hands on STEAM project using the Sphero as the focal point.
Grant will show you a range of innovative and engaging lessons which will see Sphero revolutionise your Mathematics program. K-6 teachers can integrate Sphero into their Mathematics program to create a new way to present their lessons. Sphero can promote the following sub-strands of Mathematics – angles, addition & subtraction, time, length, probability, data and two-dimensional space. Grant will show how these sub-strands work in synergy with the Digital Technologies curriculum in the classroom.
All sessions will be hands on and interactive for all participants.
Completing the Sphero Twilight PL Workshop will contribute 4.5 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 1.2.2, 1.5.2, 2.1.2, 2.5.2, 2.6.2, 3.2.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
Our 3 week workshop is $295 ex GST per participant. All equipment will be provided but feel free to bring a Tablet with the Sphero Edu app installed if you wish to use your own device.
